Open Saturdays
This year we’re opening on Saturdays in June, July and September, which is when the plants are in flower. The different varieties bloom at various times during these weeks and you may also catch us harvesting during July.
Specific Saturdays are from June 14 to July 12, and September 6 to October 4.
Saturday hours – 10 am to 5pm - weather permitting!
We’ll be open for browsing through the lavender as you take your own self-guided tour, relaxing on one of the benches as you take in that fragrance and for “Pick your own” fresh flowers to take home with you. Our other products will also be available for purchase.
Guided tours are also available on Saturdays. Fee required.
Group tours by appointment only. Please call.
Lavender plants will be available beginning in June while quantities last!!
3rd Annual “Open Field” Event 2008
Come join us at the farm!
June 28 / 29, 2008
Walk through the field and enjoy the sight and smell of over 4000 lavender plants at various stages of bloom, on 1½ acres of Chatham-Kent farmland.
Pick your own bundle of flowers and take the fragrance of Provence, France home with you. Or we’ll have some fresh picked bundles ready for you!
Refreshments will be available at a nominal cost. Try a free sample of our lavender shortbread cookies.
All of our products will be available for purchase. Some new products will be available beginning this weekend. For example: pure, 100% natural Lavender Honey (no additives – right from the hive!!)
Activities planned during the weekend “Open Field” Event:
- Walking discussion tour of lavender field each day – every 2 hours on the hour – starting at 11am on Saturday; 1 pm on Sunday.
- Daily Lavender oil distillation demonstration – 10am and 2pm Saturday; 2 pm on Sunday.
- Other local craft vendors such as:
- Jam Sessions. Check them out at www.jamsessionsgourmet.com
- Local artist Cornelius Peet will have many of his paintings available for purchase on Saturday.
- Just returning from Italy, Ron Blommers of Blommers Fine Art will be on site showing and selling some of his recent works.
- Lavender Wand making on Sunday afternoon only. Sessions will take place from 1pm to 4pm on the hour. You’ll need to purchase a bundle of lavender to take part.
- And who knows what else we’ll offer! Check back later.
Admission
$2.00 per adult - No charge for children under12 accompanied by an adult
(admission can be used towards your Great Lakes Lavender purchase of $20.00 or more)
